Challenge of Music Blog Hop

Today is the reveal for the Challenge of Music by Erin Prais-Hintz of Tesori Trovati Jewelry.  We were asked to pick a song that speaks to us and design a piece of jewelry with that song in mind.

The song that I choose was ALL SUMMER LONG by Kid Rock.  This is one song that always gets me up and dancing no matter how I feel or what I am doing.  It reminds me of my youth though in my case it would be summer in Eastern Washington.  There was a park that ran along the Columbia River that was 5 miles long and I would spend complete summers there (minus the times I was working).  It was a time of freedom and innocence.
I wanted to share the chorus with you (and yes I was singing Sweet Home Alabama):

And we were trying different things
We were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Because this song reminds me of my youth I wanted to make a bracelet in the style of ones that I wore when I was a teenager.  I had a lot of fun jamming to music in my studio and wire-wrapping all those dangles.  I tend to work in my studio while listening to podcasts and audio books.  I think that I am really going to have to rotate in some music days also.

I am also planning on donating this bracelet to The Global Genes Project They have a really great program where designers can make up and donate bracelets to be passed on to the mothers of children that have a rare disease.  For more info about that be sure to click on the link.

  1. I love that song and I love your bracelet! In the first photo your bracelet looks as though it is drenched in bright summer sunlight ... you can almost feel the heat. I think I may need a sip of that whiskey to cool off ... =)

  9. I love the original Sweet Home Alabama song so much that I was actually angry when it was used as part of the refrain for Kid Rock's song. But it has grown on me now, and I find myself singing along with it.

I love the bracelet you used, and that you will be donating to such a worthy cause.

  18. I like that the bracelet is taking you back. Time goes so fast, and we have to remember, and cherish. My song choice took me back to an earlier period in my life, also. I enjoyed every nostalgic step of the journey.

  19. Oh how I love that song! I think that everyone has had those youthful experiences of freedom and lazy days and endless fun in the sun. And if you haven't, you haven't lived! I think this bracelet looks like a lot of fun to wear. I can imagine dancing around on the banks of the river by moonlight and a roaring fire. Thank you so much for joining me in this musical journey. I have learned so much about all of your personalities through the songs you chose. It has been one magical ride!
    Enjoy the day!
