Book Review: Sweet Revenge

The One Man She Can't Have

Matt Dean was born to fightand kill. A member of a secret black-ops military unit, he and his brothers were genetically engineered by the government to be the perfect soldiers with an expiration date. Now, with time running out, he's gone rogue in a relentless quest for the one person who can save them. His mission leads him to Charmed, Idahoand to a beautiful woman with eyes like emeralds and a body made for pleasure.

The One Woman He Can't Resist

Laney Jacobs knows the mysterious, handsome stranger is trouble from the moment he walks into her bar, looking for a job. She's spent years running from her own pastthe last thing she needs is a romantic entanglement. But Matt's strong arms offer her protection, and his gentle touch promises passion unlike anything she's ever known. As lethal forces surround them, revealing explosive secrets about Matt's past and putting everythingand everyonehe holds dear in danger, can he save them all before time runs out?

Wow!  This book has it all; hot men, dastardly villeins, and a fast paced plot. As you can tell, I really enjoyed reading this book and will be picking up the first book in the series.

I really liked Matt. He was bred to be a killing machine and it was the love of his brothers that kept him human. He is hard edged yet will give everything and do anything to those he loves. And what a lover. This book is rather sensual and let's the reader behind the closed doors.

Laney is on the run from the same black-ops organization and has changed her life all around. She really likes who she is now but knows it could change at anytime.  And while Matt’s looks turned her head, she didn't expect how he would turn everything else upside down.

Pearls and Nuggets Challenge

I love participating in the challenges that Linda Lodge of Pine Ridge Treasures hosts but this one has been an exercise in frustration.  I took the pictures using my iPhone and it took pulling my hair out to get them over to my computer so that I could upload them to this post.

Lisa, as usual, sent along some real beauties though I didn't end up using them all.  In fact, I was so drawn to those incredible Amazonite nuggets that I concentrated on them.  I am sure that you will see the rest of them popping up in the future though the pearls are a bit too much on the yellow side of the scale for my tastes.

I had some Amazonite beads that went so perfectly with the nuggets in terms of color that they made their way into this creation as well as a beautiful pewter clasp that I had been hoarding saving for just the right occasion and some sterling filled beads.  I really think this was it.  What do you think?  This necklace is up for sale at Shaiha Designs.

New Earrings Monday Weeks 11 & 12

I always have so many issues with earrings so I am glad that I joined the New Earrings Monday Challenge.  This wonderful challenge is the brainchild Sarajo of SJ Designs.

This is actually going to be a quick post where I am just sharing a couple pairs of earrings as I have been blessed with a kidney infection and the antibiotics I am on make me nauseous.   I just wanted to make sure that I shared what I have made since this challenge really has gotten me to make more earrings.

Bead Porn Part Deux

I have been having so much with the Swap N Hop. As I have told everyone, I was lucky enough to be blessed with a couple partners and I wanted to show everyone the stash that I sent Lee.  The elephant is from Okawa African Beads, the lampwork bowes from Mandrel 2 and the brass butterflies, one that I colored. I also included magnesite, agate, some gun metal chain and a fun elephant clasp.

The real porn however was the true beauties that Lee sent to me. She sent me a variety of artisan glass and ceramic. The real treasures however is the clasp and bracelet bar in that Lee made herself. She sent along the bar as an extra present for me and I am so in love since if you asked me for one word to sum me up and I would say Witch.

Lee also sent along a note saying she doesn't wrap except for wire so she tied my goodies up with sari silk. Score!  Not only did get some lovely silk but this is a woman after my own heart. There is a reason why little organza bags were invented.

Lee also sent along a wonderful supporting cast. There is Czech glass, serpentine, brass, crystal and shell. So many goodies that I know I will have extras. How can anyone get to be so lucky?

Now to find the time to disappear and create. I will be showing off all I make from the porn....err beads that I have gotten on May 2nd. Be sure to stop back by because a little birdie let me know that I will be holding a contest then also.

Ramblings

If looking for the 2015 Spring Fashionista click here.

  • I just love the copper bangle that I won from Patti of My Addictions.  I haven't taken it off since it arrived.  She made it oval rather then round so it doesn't get in my way when I am typing.  She makes the most beautiful copper jewelry and I have added a few more things to my wish list.
  • I HATE Daylight Savings Time!  It always takes me a couple weeks to get over the lag it causes.
  • Kharma, my Pomeranian Devil, has an ulcer on his eye that requires eye drops every two hours.  This isn't making for a happy husband and I have been hearing about it.   I swear these guys are as bad as kids. Overall all though, he is a rather healthy fourteen year old.
  • Happy Friday the 13th!  This has actually always been a lucky day for me.
  • Having fun entering all the contests for the Fashionista and crossing my fingers.
  • Waiting to hear from the title company that everything is a go is NO fun.  I have wanted this house the first time I saw it almost ten years ago, now it is almost mine. I am finally really working towards a long term goal.  Safety and security for my fur kids and Saje.
  • Been cat sitting for the last month and I have come to the conclusion that one cat tree for four cats is not enough when they don't all get along.

  • Jing is fully convinced that she will fit into a tiny dog bed.  Even if it means falling out the sides.

Swap N Hop: Meet My Partner Part 2

I just happened to be reading over the posts in the Bead Peeps group on Facebook and noticed that one of our members commented that her partner had disappeared.  Now this was before they had swapped beads so I volunteered to partner her since I enjoy swapping with multiple people.  It is such a good way to meet other beaders and I am so glad that I did.

I would like to introduce you to Lee Koopman of Strega Jewellry. who has a lot in common with me including spiritual beliefs and a love of the furry, four-legged critters.  Lee is also a fellow member of the ZNetShows design team so I have ran across her work before.

Lee is the wireworker that I can only dream of being and right now she is designing a line of Steampunk jewelry for me.  I think that it is a great idea and am looking forward to seeing her finished line.  I am sure that they would go over great at a Steampunk or Fantasy convention.

I am sending off my pretties to Lee today and I will be sure to share what I sent as soon as Lee gets a chance to check them out.

New Earrings Monday: Weeks 9 & 10

I am so glad that I keep a calendar to remind me about blog posts otherwise I would have totally missed this one.  It just doesn't seem that it had been two weeks already since I did a post of earrings.  Ah well.  One reason for this challenge is to keep us accountable and kinda on track.  New Earrings Monday is the brainchild of Sarajo of SJ Designs.  You will want to head over there to see what everyone else has designed in the past couple weeks.

Now onto what I have been up to.  This pair of earrings came about when I was digging through a box of Czech glass that I have and found these peacock beads.  I just happened to have those olive beads hanging about on my table and well you can see the result.  These are being donated to Ears To You.

I have had those gorgeous enameled beads from Sue Beads forever.  I have a bowl of earring pairs from Sue that I take out and fondle once in a while.  This time inspiration struck and they went together along with golden pewter beads and dangles, some amethyst heishi and 14K ear wires.  I will be sending then off to a friend that has been battling health issues and always wears earrings.

Swap N Hop Bead Porn

While I had a lot of fun with my teaser pic for the Swap N Hop, I decided that it was time that I actually showed everyone just what I sent to my partner. And just wait until you see what she sent to me.

Now remember the requiresments for this hop is that we send our partner a focal, supporting beads and a clasp.  At least, one of the aforementioned items need to be handmade or hand altered.

I am all about options and I am lousy at making decisions about what another would like.  So Sue got a few different sets with many roads to travel.  There is polymer focal from Andrew Thornton as well as a bracelet bar from Blu Mudd.  I also tossed in a mismatched set of ceramics from Firefly Design Studio.

And we can't forget the supporting cast.  There is sea glass, rough adventuring rounds, glass tear drops, chain and various copper rings.  I also added a clasp that would work great with either a necklace or a bracelet.  I can't wait to see which path my partner Sue wanders down.

Now I did promise some bead porn so let me show you the treasure hoard that Sue sent my way.  A little bird must had whispered in her ear that I have been having fun with Marsala.  And that blue...drool...

And now for a close-up of  the headliners.  And this is where I feel so spoiled.  They were all made by Sue with the exception of the ceramic ring.  I love this woman.  She decided that she was clasp deficient so she sat down and made some.

And if I wasn't lucky enough already with all my pretties, I found out yesterday that I have a second partner also.  I want to write up a post to highlight all her beautiful jewelry so be sure to stay tuned for more info.

Ramblings

  • There is something so wrong about needing to mow my lawn in February.  Regardless, I need to get out and do so though I think that I will wait until March.  Not quite so evil that way.
  • Chloe sure thinks I should be outside with her.
  • I feel so spoiled.  I picked up a surprise box of goodies from Lori of Pretty Things.  I had asked for gemstones but she slipped in a pendant from Round Rabbit.  I have always wanted a focal from this shop so I was really exited to see this and couldn't resist making myself up a necklace.  I think after looking at the pic though that I am either going to remove the bead dangly or add a few more strands.  What do you think?

  • I finally got a chance to start editing my husband's new book, Daughter of Darkness.  It looks really good.
  • I am so sad that we lost Leonard Nimoy.  Not only was a great actor but he was a good man.  His loss hit me a lot harder then Robin Williams' death mainly because I grew up on Star Trek.  Yeah one of the shows that I would let dictate that I be home on a certain time on a certain day to watch.  Boy how times have changed now that I don't really watch tv.
  • I think that I have finally found a background that I like for my jewelry and a set up that doesn't take up too much space.  I picked up the ceramic tile from Lowes and a steady stand from Modahaus.
