Starfish Color Palette Challenge

It's that time of year that I am drawn to 'beachy' jewelry.  Actually who am I kidding?  I love all things to do with the beach and the ocean all times of the year.  Anyways when Sherri Stokey of Love My Art Jewelry issued a challenge to create handmade items using a palette inspired by the ocean, I just could resist.

I mean look at those colors!  They just happen to be some of my favorite so I jumped in with both feet.  I started out by grabbing some natural waxed linen and then went through my beads to find some in a light teal/aqua.  My original intent was to find an artisan focal but what kept calling me was a brass sea shell.

The beads themselves are a mix of Czech glass, commercial glass, brass  and vintage resin.  I ended up having to redo the necklace a couple times as I just wasn't satisfied with the knotting and placement but if all finally came together.

If you would like to see what other designers came up with be sure to head over to Love My Art Jewelry.

  4. I think the shell is perfect! Your knotting skills rock! My favorite beads are those stripey beads at the top near the clasp... they are such a beachy color!
