Book Review: The Immortal's Hunger

It was only a matter of time before Gareth Brennan had to die. Before he made that ultimate sacrifice, the assassin wanted to know warmth once again. His recent experiences had destroyed his ability to create fire, yet sexy bartender Ashley Clement was now igniting one within him.

As a Phoenix, Ashley had limited time herself; soon a male Phoenix would claim her. Unless she could find a lover. Gareth was the perfect man for the job. Except he was no human, and their union might draw even more danger. But to deny their fiery attraction...that was a truly impossible task.

When I wander away from a genre for a while and then find my way back, I always wonder just what took me so long.  Paranormal romances have been a long time favorite of mine as I enjoy meeting the different supernatural races.  THE IMMORTAL'S HUNGER is the first time that I have enjoyed the pleasure of meeting a Phoenix.  I have to say that I wasn't that impressed by the culture but I loved meeting Ashley who rebelled against that culture.

I wasn't too sure that I was going to care for Gareth as he was all dark and gloomy.  He does tend to grow on you as the book continues and really became human when one of his fears popped up.  Ashley is a fiercely independent woman who is determined not to need anyone except when her breeding cycle occurs.  She flat out refuses to care for anyone.

THE IMMORTAL'S HUNGER has a nice pacing complete with danger from angry Goddesses and horny male Phoenixes.  It's an easy read and one that I can recommend to my readers who enjoy paranormal romance.

*** I received this book at no charge from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.  All opinions expressed within are my own.
