Review: World Spice Golden Monkey

There are some days where nothing seems to satisfy.

As my older readers well know, I am a huge tea drinker.  I am such a lover of the leaf that I even review over at Teaviews (which is a great review site to work with so if anyone loves tea check them out),  Currently I am also involved with a tea tasted for 2nd Flush Darjeelings from Lochan Tea.  So this was a roundabout way to say that yes I drink a lot of tea.  In fact, I tried three different teas today and none of them were satisfying.

So in steps Golden Monkey from World Spice.  They are located in Seattle Washington however they do ship anywhere.  When it comes to black unflavored teas, I have found that I really gravitate to ones with gold in the name.  It could be a Golden Tips or a Golden Monkey.  I have found that they also tend to be the pricier black teas.  Imagine my surprise when I stumbled over World Spice Merchants when myself and the DH were wandering around.  I found their Golden Monkey and since it was only $6.00 a ounce, I opted to try it out.  I immediately feel in love.  There is no astringency to be found and it has rich chocolate undertones.  All in all, an excellent tea that stands up to other Golden Monkeys that I have tried and cost considerably less.  It has become a staple in my cupboard.

Oh and yes, the Golden Monkey was the forth tea that I have tried today and I am very happily sipping away.

Now I promised some pics of the jewelry that I have been working on.  Now mind you that I am not good at taking jewelry pics though I am sure that I will get better as time goes on.  After I move, I am also planning on getting one of those photo boxes and a tripod.  I am sure that will help.  Well anyways, here are the pics.

Moonstruck anyone?

Don't you love eclipses?  There is one happening tonight!  I plan on brewing up some tea to toss into a thermos and finding a good spot to watch it from.  It's happening early here on the west coast, even before the sun goes down.  Should be better on the east coast.

I am so excited!  I think that summer might actually be rearing up its head.  It has been fairly warm the last few days.  Heck I was wondering on Thursday if I was going to get a sunburn from my driving around (I didn't luckily).  I am really hoping that the warmth will cause my fibro to lighten up some.

And yes my muse is back in force!  I made a gorgeous necklace last night with crystals and chalcedony briolletes.   It was so nice to see her back.  If I am to make one of my goals with is to actually get my Etsy store up and going, I really need to have some items to put there.  And it was so fun to start out with one idea, dig through my gemmies and come up with something entirely different. Now I need to figure out how to get some nice pics.  I want to be able share with everyone.

Have a great day!  Oh and if you live in the Tacoma area, don't forget the Taste of Tacoma.

Sorry to have disappeared for over a week.  That is something I am truly trying to avoid this year.  I know that consistency is the goal if I want to build up my blog.  But it has just been one of those times when I feel like an airhead.  For the last couple days, I have even left my phone (and I think my brain) at home.

The good news is that my muse has been coming back.  I have been working a lot with kumihimo braiding making necklaces, key chains and bookmarks.  I was sitting here at work and designing out a necklace with picture jasper and crystal.  It is so nice to see her again.  I am really hoping that when we move I can have a place to play when she hits and not have to worry about stashing everything at the end.

So how has life been treating everyone?

Review: Dove® Daily Treatment Conditioner

My hair has always been rather dry and brittle.  It's frustrating actually as I would like to grow my hair longer but it breaks off  once it hits the bottom of my neck.  Lately though, I have been using Dove® Daily Treatment Conditioner.  Even after the first use, I was surprised at how soft and supple my hair is.  I am really impressed and maybe just maybe I will be able to finally grow my hair long.

If you would like to try a free sample click here.

(( I am a BzzAgent and was given the product to try out so that I could spread the word)

Review: Demon Keepers

I realize that it has been awhile since my last book review.  This book is why.  I have loved this series, The Final Prophecy, right up to this book.  However DEMON KEEPERS changed my mind as I wasn't able to finish the book.  As some of you know, I edit books along with reviewing them and one thing that I absolutely hate is a glaring content error.  It is enough to pull me right out of a book and in some cases, will make it impossible for me to finish the book.  This was one of these cases.  And I don't even blame it particularly on the author but instead the editor who should have caught it.  Regardless, it has caused Jessica Anderson to loose a fan.

I rate this book a 1 because I couldn't even finish it.

The Fitness Rip Off: Tacoma All Star Fitness

Yes this is a rant or is it a review?  I guess that it could be a little of both.

Around July of last year, we (myself and my husband) decided to join a health club, All Star Fitness, here in Tacoma.  I thought that I would enjoy the classes and he wanted to lift weights.  I thought that it would be a good investment all around.  Well I quickly found that their classes just don't fit my schedule as I work 10 hour shifts.  Still no great loss as I like to use the pool, the hot tub and the showers.

Then we went through a couple months where getting a hot shower is very much a hit and miss.  Now they finally have that fixed, thank goodness.  I hate getting covered by chlorine and not being able to wash it off.  And call me a wimp but I am not about to take a cold shower.  Now their hot tub has been down for three days and they have NO idea when it will be fixed.  With my fibro, soaking in a hot tub for half an hour really helps me out.

I asked when it would be fixed very pointedly and was told they have no eta on that.  I then asked when I would be getting a credit back as I am paying for the use of the hot tub (or what they call the spa) every day that I am in.  They hemmed and hawed but the bottom line is that I won't be getting a credit.  To me, since they are not delivering what they have promised and contracted too, I should be getting a credit back.  I know that when our year is up, we will be finding another gym.  This one sucks.

Oh and as you can guess, I rate them a 1 :(

I won!

An author, Susan Gabriel, who writes erotic romances had a contest for this gorgeous necklace on her blog and I won!  What a great way to start out a day.  Be sure to check out her blog.

Have a great day!

June? Really??

I really don't know what is happening with the weather.  It sure isn't acting like June outside.  Heck my father-in-laws garden is mildewing!  I am beginning to think that Global Warming needs to be renamed to Global Cooling.  Anyways, enough of a rant.  Since I am dreaming of warmer weather, let me share some pics along those lines.

Insecure Much?

My husband gained weight when he was recovering from surgery.  Quite a lot of weight.  I think that when he stepped onto the scale at the gym he shocked himself.  So now he is determined to lose it.  And like most men, it is coming off easily.  In a way, watching this is amusing as all of a sudden he has discovered calories.  The look on his face when he found out just how many calories is in a candy bar was priceless.  His goal is to get a flat stomache, preferably with a six pack.  He just might succeed as he is hitting the weights pretty regularly and discovering that he really likes it.

So we are trying to eat healthier with more salads and vegetables in our diets.  We haven't been going out to eat as much either. This I know is going to be good for both of us.  So why is there an issue?

Well the doctor has me on a new drug that is causing me to gain weight.  I have to admit that I have never had to learn to have will power where food is concerned.  While my body has naturally regulated itself about 20 pounds more then I would like, still it was a good healthy weight.  I haven't had to buy larger sized clothes in 15 years.  Now they are getting tight.  And just as the hubby is on this push to loose inches.

I want to support him in any way and I will.  But I have to ask myself why he is doing this now when I am gaining weight?  Was his weight gain a trigger for him to go thru a midlife crisis and it is time for him to start looking around again?  Only time will tell.

Hill’s® Science Diet® Toy & Small Breed

As I have mentioned before, I am a BzzAgent.  What this means is that I sign up for campaigns, receive either free or discounted products and get to voice my opinion about them.  It's a match made in heaven.  I have included the link if anyone is interested in signing up for them,  I do recommend them.  Great company to be connected with.

The latest product that I received was a dog food, Hill’s® Science Diet® Toy & Small Breed.  I have dogs in a wide range of sizes starting with 7 pounds all the way up to 55 pounds.  In this case, Boo my smallest was the guinea pig.  I picked up my free bag and was impressed by the small size of the kibbles.  Great for the wee  ones.  And Boo was impressed by the taste.  But what really impressed me was her coat.  Being a MinPin there have always been a few spots where her coat didn't come in the thickest.  Well it is growing in nicely now.

I do recommend this dogfood and will be keeping Boo on it.  I rate it a solid 4.
