Book Review: Prelude to a Scandal

Marriage is not the end of desire...

Lady Justine is willing to trade her good name, her reputation and her place in London’s gossip-hungry ton to secure her father’s release from prison. But when the notorious Duke of Bradford counters her offer with a proposal of marriage, the stakes grow higher still. For while the smoldering lord is famous for his conquests, the man is oblivious to both her devotion and her charms. And Justine is soon afraid she has wagered all for naught…
Are you ready to be scandalized?

I have to admit that if all historical romances were as good as Ms. Marvelle's PRELUDE TO A SCANDAL then I wouldn't be reading other genres at all.  I just loved the fact that she started with  questioning what a sex addict would do back in the 1820s and ran with it.

We don't get to see a lot of London in this book.  It is the characters themselves that really cause it to shine.  Justine, being as she was raised in Africa, is highly unconventional and probably the only woman who would be able to help the Duke overcome his addiction.  I really enjoyed watching their relationship deepen and the Duke becoming a better man thru her love.

I do highly recommend PRELUDE TO A SCANDAL to anyone that enjoys historical romance set in the Regency period.  I give it a 4.2.

I did receive this book from NetGallery in exchange for the review.  No money exchanged hands and all opinions are my own.
