Book Review: Monsterland

Welcome to Monsterland – the scariest place on Earth. All guests can interact with real vampires in Vampire Village, be chased by an actual werewolf on the River Run, and walk among the dead in Zombieville.

Wyatt Baldwin, a high school student and life-long movie buff is staring bleakly at a future of flipping burgers. Due to a fortuitous circumstance, Wyatt and his friends are invited to the star-studded opening of Monsterland. In a theme park full of real vampires, werewolves and zombies, what could possibly go wrong?

First off, let me say that yes this book does bear a distinct resemblance to Jurassic Park.   That being said, I found it to be a fun book to read.  Full of goey horror with the zombies falling to pieces everywhere they go, werewolves behind glass to allow the owner to make money and we don't even want to talk about the vampires.

Along with being a horror story, we watch Wyatt go from being a tongue-tied older brother who is in love with the popular Jade to someone you can count on in a crisis.  Quite a bit of growth in the two days that the story covers but entirely believable considering the events.

I do think that my readers who enjoy a fun horror story would enjoy MONSTERLAND.  Just don't expect it to scare the socks off of you.

*** I received this book at no charge from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.  All opinions expressed within are my own
