"Dragonfly Lamp"
By Émile Gallé, late 1800's- early 1900's
French Art Nouveau, Cameo Art Glass

One of my goals this year was to participate in as many of Art Bead Scene's challenges as I possibly could. I think that I missed one simply because I just couldn't find any inspiration in the picture that was chosen. This time around there was no concern as I adore Art Nouveau and we all know my love of dragonflies.
Now I didn't have anything that yellow and purple as I still not sure of that color combo but I did pick up a dragonfly focal by Jean Christen, or as she is better known Clay Genie, when I was at Bead Fest. I was so excited to find some of her work as it has been getting harder and harder to find. I wasn't even able to locate a place to purchase online.
I paired this lovely ceramic focal with Czech fire polished beads and finished it off with some bone beads to bring out the cream color in the focal. This is a longer necklace so perfect for sweaters or tunics.

Beautiful necklace. I haven't participated in ABS as much as I'd like this year. It's fun to see what others make though, and I absolutely see this necklace with fall sweaters!
ReplyDeleteOooh that is just gorgeous. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this focal. It is perfect! Dragonflies are symbols of happiness and I know that whoever is lucky enough to wear this will be happy in it! Enjoy the day! Erin
